What is Pilates?
Pilates was developed in the 1920's by the legendary personal trainer Joseph H. Pilates. The Pilates Method is an exercise system focusing on improving flexibility and strength for the total body without building bulk.

At Pilates at QSMC we teach the Stott Pilates mind-body exercise system which builds on the essence and principles of the late Joseph H. Pilates' work by incorporating modern scientific knowledge about the body to develop the safest and most effective program for each client.

Whether you're working individually in a rehabilitation setting, or with a small group, the aim of Pilates at QSMC remains the same: 

Optimal musculoskeletal performance, Strength, Flexibility and endurance without risking  injury or building bulk.

Pilates helps to restore the natural curves of the spine and relieves tension, by focusing on core stability, neutral alignment and breathing. The result is a balanced, strong and streamlined body that resists injury and moves with ease. Whether you are a rehab patient or an elite athlete, Pilates will assist.

Stott Pilates repertoire consists of more than 500 systematic mat and equipment based exercises, including preparatory, essential, intermediate and advanced level workouts, as well as balanced exercise sequences and modifications to address special populations.
